The American School of Dubai (ASD),previously known as the Jumeriah American School, is located in the Jumeirah community of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
With a faculty of approximately one hundred, ASD follows an American curriculum and school year with primary (elementary), middle, and high schools.
ASD is accredited by the US-based Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
The school's mascot is the ASD Falcons and the school colors are Red and White. Each year the school have established "red and white" days, where all students dress up in red and white clothes to show their school spirit. During the rest of the year, however, students are required to wear school uniforms which consist of a variation of either floor length or 3/4 length skirts in navy blue or khaki, or pants in navy blue or khaki. The shirts consist of white or light blue button up collared shirts, or navy blue or white regular polo shirts. (Dresses are available for the elementary girls) [*]

ASD has had a strong reputation in academic excellence and in its extracurricular activities. It was reviewed by the Good Schools Guide International as "One of the best thought-of and long established schools in Dubai". The school offers the Advanced Placement Program (AP) for its students over a variety of subjects. Famous guest speakers who have visited the school include 41st U.S. President George H.W. Bush, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, North Carolina Senator and 2004 Democratic Nominee for Vice-President John Edwards, anthropologist Jane Goodall, and even the Harlem Globetrotters. As well as Kobe Bryant.
Athletics and Extracurricular Activities
ASD is a part of the Eastern Mediterranean Activities Conference (EMAC), a regional athletic and academic conference for American schools in the Eastern Mediterranean and Persian Gulf regions. The school has a variety of clubs such as Kids For Wish Kids, Medicines sans Frontiers(MSF), Habitat For Humanity, a Student Government Association, Thespian Society, the International Student Association, and Mettle.

The American School Parents Association (ASPA) sponsors athletic and other activities for the students in grades K1-6. At least twice a week, throughout most of the school year, sports activities such as basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer are available to the students. Additional activities include ballet and dance, scouting programs, chorus, drama, swimming, sailing, computer club, and an environmental club.
ASD supports strong vocal, instrumental and drama programs. The school has one large and two small stages as well sound and lighting equipment.
Social, service, athletic and academic-related clubs and activities are organized for the students in grades 6-12. An intramural program involving a variety of sports is available for middle school students. Students in grades 7-12 participate in EMAC sports such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, track & field, badminton, performing arts, forensics, and other activities sponsored by an organization consisting of other schools in the Middle East. The students travel to other countries in the area to participate in EMAC sports, or the Fine Arts Festival and are able to tour most cities and historical sites when traveling to tournaments and festivals. These events allow students to develop friendships with students in other international schools.
ASD also fields varsity and junior varsity teams for boys and girls in swimming, wrestling (girls and boys), cross-country soccer, track and field, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and tennis."
The school will soon be opening a new campus in the al-Barsha area of Dubai. The new campus is to be three times larger than the current size of the school and expected to accommodate many more students than the school currently can. The new school is predicted to open in 2010 with new facilities and a larger staff/faculty.
