Miss Turkey is a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Turkey, who personify beauty with intelligence. The first beauty contest was held on September 2, 1929 with the backing of the government, and the title holder was Feriha Tevfik.

Miss Turkey pageant was initially promoted by the newspaper Cumhuriyet. Since 1980, it is being run by the "Miss Turkey Organisation". Between the years 1980-1990, the contest was sponsored by the newspapers Gune, Sabah, Tercuman, Bulvar and some others. With the establishment of private TV channels in Turkey in 1990, the channels Magic Box, Show TV, Kanal D and Star TV took over the promotion of the pageant. The title "Miss Turkey" is a registered trade mark.

The winner of the contest participates in the Miss World finals, while the three runner-ups are delegated to other international contests of Miss Universe, Miss Europe and Miss International each to represent Turkey. Since the pageant of 2008, each delegate represent there hometown province. The province coulde be represented by one delegate.

Miss Turkey 2007

Miss Turkey 2007 was held at the Lutfi Kirdar Congress Centre, Istanbul on June 12th 2007, broadcast by STAR TV. Hande Subai (Miss Turkey 2005) was co-host along with the presenter of hit tv show 'Popstar Alaturka.

Judges included Azra Akin (Miss Turkey and Miss World 2002, Arzum Onan (Miss Europe 1993) and Yuksel Ak (Miss Turkey 2000 and 2nd Runner up at Miss World. The Contestants were cut from 22, to 10 and eventually down to the four girls who placed.

Sertab Erener was the invited guest performer.
